Excited and Little Explorers Month 10 - Week 2

clepreschool1

Hello dear parents,

We are delighted to welcome you to our weekly blog! Our goal is to keep you connected with your children’s educational journeys and to celebrate the joy of their learning experiences together.

This week’s report covers the following learning areas:

1.    Linguistic

2.    Verbal and bodily expression

3.    Physical wellbeing

4.    Art and Craft

5.    Project

LINGUISTIC – SUN Clock

This week, we conducted an experiment with a disc to explore how different rainbow colors appear. We placed the disc in the sunlight streaming through our classroom window to observe the colors it created. We then encouraged the children to name the different colors they could see on the wall and on the ceiling. As we did this, we named the times of the day, helping to promote vocabulary related to time.

Following that, we went outdoors and presented the sun clock to the children, we showed them how the shadow rotates as the sun moves and informed them that we will be leaving our sun clock and stick at the sun for some time and will come back later to observe the shadow.

After some time, we went back outside to see what happened to the shadow of the stick we placed on the clock. We noticed that the shadow changed. It was exciting to see how the sun made the stick's shadow look different.

We explained to the children that the position of the sun can make shadows longer or shorter. The children were more fascinated by the shadow and enjoyed moving the stick around. This fun exploration helped them understand a little about light and shadows in a simple, hands-on way.

VERBAL & BODILY EXPRESSION – Emotions

During our verbal and bodily expression lesson, we focused on paying attention to observing the children’s emotions and describing them in supportive ways. As the children engaged and played, we made it a point to acknowledge their feelings. For example, “I can see how happy you are with that toy” to highlight their joy and “It is okay to be sad . I know you are missing your parents, but your dad/mom is going to pick you up soon,” to acknowledge and validate their feelings.

Whenever we named emotions, we also made sure to show the corresponding pictogram to help the children visually connect with what they were feeling. We also made them imitate the emotions on the pictogram. Their faces are so cute.  This made it easier for them to understand and express their emotions.

PHYSICAL WELLBEING- Obstacle Course (Dinosaur Hunt)

We formed a circle and explained that we are going on an exciting adventure through an obstacle course. To get started, we instructed a fun warm-up activity called “a dinosaur hunt. The children walked in a circle while following the instructions from the song, engaging in movements that got them energized and ready for the adventure.

After our warm-up, we guided the children to sit back in the circle to discuss some safety guidelines before beginning the obstacle course. We emphasized that everyone should move in the same direction to ensure a safe and fun experience. We then directed the children to enter the obstacle course in a line to practice. As you can imagine, it was a little chaotic at the beginning but they enventually understood the assignment and enjoyed navigating through the various obstacles, building their confidence as they mastered the course.

After the children were comfortable and confident with the obstacle course, we turned on some music to create an energetic atmosphere, motivating the children to move swiftly through the course.

At the end of the activity, we thanked the children for their participation, celebrating their energy and the fun they had. It was a fantastic way to combine physical activity, teamwork, and a sense of adventure.

ART AND CRAFT – Colouring the rocks

We had a lot of fun coloring and decorating stones during our art and craft lesson. We divided the children in smaller groups and gave the first group a basket with stones to choose one stone that they like best.

After all the children had selected their stones, we offered them crayons and supported them in choosing the colors they wanted to use. We encouraged the children to name the colors as they made their selections, enhancing their color vocabulary.

As the children began coloring their stones with their chosen colors, we provided guidance and assistance as needed, ensuring they felt confident in their creative process.

After working with the first small group, we repeated the activity with other small groups, allowing everyone a chance to decorate their stones.

At the end of the activity, we helped each child to put their beautiful stones in their bags to take home. It was a delightful experience that encouraged creativity.

PROJECT – Dinosaur footprint

We gathered the children around the table and warmly welcomed everyone to our fun activity. We began by making playdough together, inviting the children to assist by pouring the ingredients and mixing the dough. This engaging process allowed them to feel involved and excited about what was to come.

After the playdough was ready, we placed it on the table and made it flat. We then took a dinosaur toy and demonstrated how it could walk on the playdough, leaving footprints behind. To make the experience even more engaging, we modeled the dinosaur's sound, letting out a big “ROAR” as it walked across the dough, which brought lots of giggles from the children.

After that, we provided each child with a small ball of playdough and encouraged them to roll out their playdough into a flat surface using a rolling pin, creating a smooth canvas for their dinosaur footprints. As they worked, we encouraged the children to experiment with different pressures and angles to see how they could achieve various effects with their dinosaur toys.

We allowed the children to freely enjoy playing with their dinosaurs and playdough, facilitating their imaginative play. It was a wonderful opportunity for creativity and hands-on learning, fostering both fine motor skills and fun.

The end!

Thank you for reading our weekly report. We hope you enjoy sharing in your child's learning experiences. Don't forget to look out for next week's report as we explore more exciting activities and learning adventures!

Warm regards,

Creative Little Explorers
