Eager Explorers Week 2

clepreschool1

Hello dear parents,

We are delighted to welcome you to our weekly blog! Our goal is to keep you connected with your children’s educational journeys and to celebrate the joy of their learning experiences together.

This week’s report covers the following learning areas:

1.    Linguistic Skills

2.    Physical well-being

3.    Science and environmental education

4.    Project

LINGUISTIC- Letter T

This week, we gathered the children around the activity area and excitedly showed them a pictogram of the letter T. We asked the children if they could name the letter, and together we practiced making the letter T with our fingers, guiding them to start from left to right and then move from top to bottom.

Next, we played Kim’s Game with objects that all started with the letter T. We placed the objects in the middle of the circle and named each one, counting how many objects we had altogether. After everyone was familiar with the items, we invited the children to close their eyes and covered them with a scarf. While they were covered, we discreetly took one object away and then asked the children to guess which object was missing. The children had a great time guessing, and we also allowed them to take turns removing items and challenging their friends.

To add a fun twist, we took out a teddy bear toy and sang the song “Teddy Bear Turn Around.” We even changed it up a bit by tiptoeing along with the teddy bear, which brought lots of giggles.

After all the fun with the teddy bear, we transitioned to working on letter T worksheet. We provided guidance to the children and offered help when needed as they worked on the activities. It was a delightful and interactive way to learn.

PHYSICAL WELLBEING – Bassist tag

Our physical wellbeing lesson was a whole lot of fun. We guided the children to stand leaning on the wall.  We explained the rules of the game: one player will be the bassist. The bassist can only walk, while the other players can run away. If the bassist catches someone, that player also becomes a bassist. The game continues until all the players have turned into bassists.

To start the game, we took on the role of the bassist for the first round. The children were excited as they ran around, trying to avoid being caught. We had a great time playing together, and the kids showed a lot of enthusiasm and laughter.

As the game progressed, it was wonderful to see how the children worked together while enjoying the fun of being active. It was a fantastic way for them to engage in playful movement and promote teamwork.

SCIENCE AND ENVIRONMENTAL – When I grow up

This week we begun our discussion about how the children have grown over the years. We asked if they could remember when they were babies. We also prompted them to share their memories of when they learned to walk or talk.

We explained that everyone was once a baby and that all of them will grow up to be adults one day.

Next, we went through the children’s photos one at a time. We discussed what they think they will look like in the future when they grow up. Questions like, "Do you think your hair will be longer?" "Will you be taller?" or "Do you think you will look like your parents?" sparked interesting conversations.

We explained that since they do not have an adulthood photo of themselves yet, today they had the chance to create one using their imagination and creativity. We encouraged them to think about what they might look like in the future and then paint their future versions of themselves.

We provided the children with crayons and paper and encouraged them to work on their imaginative creations.

PROJECT – playdough Sculptures

During project 2 we presented the artist of the day: Michelangelo. We watched a read aloud video about Michelangelo, focusing on his incredible sculpture art. We explained that the children would also have the chance to create their own sculptures, inspired by his work.

After the video, we moved around the table and guided the children to sit down and listen carefully as we demonstrated how to use the skewers as a structure for their playdough sculptures. We showed them how to build up layers to create their sculptural designs.

Next, we let the children dive into their creative work. They happily shaped their own sculptures, using their imagination to bring their ideas to life. As they worked, we asked them to explain what their sculptures represented, encouraging them to articulate their thoughts and engage in discussions about their creations.

The end

Thank you for reading our weekly report. We hope you enjoy sharing in your child's learning experiences. Don't forget to look out for next week's report as we explore more exciting activities and learning adventures!

Warm regards,

Creative Little Explorers
